Are You Waiting For Tomorrow?

This is a ‘new’ season for me.  It’s a time when I am FIERCELY taking on some issues in my life- mostly related to my health.

For the last 12 years, I’ve slept more than I’ve done anything.  There have been so many days spent trying just to get the most important thing done. I’ve talked about getting serious about my weight, and my blood sugar.

For the last 5 years or so, I’ve been choosing one BIG thing to focus on.  One year it was a new coaching program for Green Hope Coaching.  Another year it was following up on a coaching credential and certification.  Of course one- or two years I spent writing and publishing the book, Lovely Traces of Hope.

This year I knew that I had to make ME the focus.   I chose to be intentional about me.  I made an appointment with a Dr. that specialized with endocrine issues.  I committed to a 21 Day Detox.  I cleaned out my fridge and goody shelf and started to create a new menu for the week.

But this morning Continue reading Are You Waiting For Tomorrow?

Believe Your Dream to Real

Have you ever had a dream of doing something significant?

Have you ever made a plan for doing that significant something, but it just lays on the pages of your notebook or in the files on your computer?

Me too! I’ve had a lot of ideas that have never come to fruition.  I’ve had notebooks filled with plans and dreams that are still great ideas, but I haven’t yet followed through on them.

But not this time!

Twenty-Eight Days to Done!

As a coach, I know the value of coaching. So I consider it essential that I utilize coaches for different aspects of my own journey (life, business, finances, etc.)

Sometimes Rennie, my husband becomes my coach. We enjoy (well I enjoy) our times of asking the hard questions to prompt thought. Other times it may be a close friend or a perfect stranger that asks a question, or challenges a thought that moves me to my next best step.

But there is something about having a coach that is not family nor friend, but curious, objective guide to help me find the truth of my problem or challenge.

I’m sure it has to something to do with the fact that they are more detached from and not part of the problem or challenge we are facing.

Maybe it’s because it is harder to be accountable to a family member than to a coach that you are paying to help you ‘get ‘er done’.

The point is, the simple art of coaching can bring about powerful transformation.  That’s what I’m after for my own life!

So I am working with my long-time coaching mentor, Coach Cheryl Thacker and her Successful Coaches Mastermind to get clear on my next steps, largely in my business, but also as a coach.

At our last mastermind session, Coach Cheryl issued a challenge.  I tweaked it a bit to combine two of my goals at the same time.

  1. To develop a coaching technique called Laser coaching.
  2. To use this laser coaching skill with 28 new clients in 28 days.

That’s a win-win!  I get to practice my skill, my client gets clear on their next best step and creates an action plan to get ‘er done!

My typical coaching session is face2face and lasts 45 minutes to an hour. That is ideal for some topics that demand the extra attention. Plus I do enjoy the in-person connections.   However, as my client base has grown, my available time alloted for coaching has not.

Though the laser sessions are shorter in length (15- 30 minutes), they are often much more effective and cutting away the clutter of our thoughts and stories and lasering in on the most significant issues at hand.

In an effort to be available for more clients and still offer tremendous value, I will offer a laser phone session that is

  • 15-30 minutes in length
  • over the phone
  • designed to get to the heart of the problem or challenge the client in facing.

Because I can’t really practice my laser coaching without a client,  I am passing a challenge and an offer on to you!  I’m calling it the 28 DAYS Challenge!

What is the ONE THING you want done in February?

Let’s Do it!

For the next 28 DAYS I am offering
28 Laser Coaching Phone Sessions
Each 28 minutes long
for $28.

That’s a super low price considering what I will be charging for them when the challenge is complete.

I’d love to help you get your ONE THING done!  Will you help me with mine?  Together we can do this.

How Do You Measure a Year?

I love pondering mornings.  I love to ponder. So I don’t demand anything of myself on these mornings;

  • I turn off the alarm,
  • lay in bed till I feel like getting up and if I don’t feel like it, then I just stay put,
  • put on my ‘comfy’ clothes,
  • make sure I eat a healthy breakfast (I want to be able to think clearly.),
  • choose my favorite ‘wordless’ music station on Pandora, otherwise I spend all my pondering time singing along.
  • grab a blanket tablet of paper and a good writing pen,
  • and I ponder.

It’s mornings like these that allow my body to catch up with my mind and heart and spirit.  They are usually running ahead and if I don’t intentionally give myself some time to reflect, I end up getting all tangled up a few days down the line.

This morning when I flipped on Pandora, before I could click on my ‘wordless’ stations, the song Seasons of Love, began to play.  The lyrics start like this:

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure – measure a year in a life?

I’ve been fascinated with this song for a lot of years, but I thought it was especially poignant since my ‘ponderings’ for the morning had been largely focused on what I want to be true of this new year.

Wow!  There are only 525,600 minutes in a year?   Considering that one day holds 1440 minutes, that means we have already spent nearly 20,000 minutes of this new year!  I’m not usually into numbers, but this morning it caught my attention.

How do we measure a year?

The song lyrics have some suggestions: Continue reading How Do You Measure a Year?

FIVE People I Am Grateful For!

5 yearsI would never be celebrating FIVE years in business with out the help of some significant people in my life.  This has been a bigger adventure than I ever dreamed.  I didn’t know what an entrepreneur was, let alone how to spell it.  I for sure didn’t know what it would take to make this work.

I’ve never been a ‘lone ranger’.  I need people to brainstorm with, challenge my thinking, encourage my emotional outbursts, and keep me going when I feel like stopping.

FIVE Goals for 2016

5 years
Five years ago, I sat down with pencil and paper and began to map out a strategy for beginning a new business and opening a coaching practice.

Five years ago, I thought I knew what wanted for my business.  I thought I knew what I would be good at and what I needed to do to make that happen.  I had a lot to learn!

But this year, I have more clarity about what is important to me, and what steps I need to take to get there. This is not my entire goal list, but here is a glimpse into some of the goals I have set for the new year.

FIVE goals I have for 2016:

FIVE Things I Know Now

Yesterday we celebrated the 5th anniversary of GHC.  I admitted that I’m not where I wanted to be in business and in life.  But during this journey I have learned a great deal.  Some things are brand new to me, others are things I am learning again for the first time.

FIVE things I know with more certainty:

Do You Know What Today Is?

Today is our anniversary!  It is the 5th anniversary of the day I declared publicly to the world that I was opening a private coaching practice called GREEN HOPE COACHING.Green HOPE Coaching

On 1-11-11, I stepped out into a world I had never even imagined until just weeks before, to do something that I hoped would make a difference in my world, because it is so important to me to be doing something that will truly make a difference in someone else’s life.  I just never fathomed the possibility it might have for changing mine.

It is times like this that inspire me to take a step back and look at the progress I’ve made.

Five years ago I knew:

Doin’ Somethin’ About Worry!

Yesterday I shared a Part 1 post called What? Me? Worry?  You can find it here.
This post is Part 2: the continuation of that post.

My last post, WHAT? ME? WORRY?  focused on our need to acknowledge worry?  What are the concerns that are holding us back and why?  I identified some of my own issues with my current book project.  I also clarified which things I can do something about and which ones I need to let go of.

Coaching as I goBut It’s impossible to forget something, so I must ADDRESS the worry, by REPLACING IT.

I  have to replaced my worries.

In my case, I reconnected with my vision for the book.  Leisha started it. She handed it off to me.  I must finish it because she is not here.  Her story is the continuation of a legacy she left to me- and to those who will read it.

In my heart, I can’t NOT do it.  It is one way her life continues to influence others.

But, as a coach, I really appreciated that Mr Matthews provided some questions to replace worry; questions that point my worry to a new way of thinking, such as:

  • Who is the one person that might be influenced by this book?
  • What does success look like for this project? In a year? In a month? in 2 weeks?
  • What can I control?
  • Can I influence it?
  • Or do I need to let it go?

Taking those previous steps are all helpful, but have little results without Step 3:  Do something intentional.  I’m afraid that is where I get hung up all too often.  I’m great at pondering about something- but struggle to DO something about it.

So…I’m doing somethin’ about worry!

  1. I wrote to my LOVELY TRACES prayer team and asked for their support.
  2. I’m joined this Self-Publishing Summit and I’m learning from others who have been there.
  3. I’m blogging to you- to not only share what I’m doing, but what I’m learning in the process.
  4. I’m writing a little every day.  I may not be able to spend the day- but I can spend a few minutes developing a thought or researching a concept.

So…how about you? What are you worrying about?

  • Acknowledge your worry
  • Address and Replace the worry
  • Do something intentionally

As the call was ending, Chandler asked Mitch for one parting thought.  He said,

Take what is worrying you and acknowledge that could be the genesis of what you need to be coaching on. Very often the battles we face are the very lessons we teach on to reach the people were put on the planet to help.”

Well, I’ve had a battle!  I’m learning some lessons!  I’m sharing it with you, someone who may also be a worrier.

Do you need some help in your process?  Email me!  I’m a COACH!

I would love to help you intentionally design hope for your dreams!
