Be Part of a Mastermind for Huge Success

In March of 2016, one of the POWER HOUR gals shared her success story on her blog. Jenn Wenzke shared WHY you should be part of a Mastermind like POWER HOUR too. Listen to her thoughts and see if POWER HOUR might be good for you.

My business coach has been telling me for years that the only way I was going to achieve my goals in a timely way was to work with an accountability partner or to participate in a mastermind group. I have to admit, I have tried both and neither one of them helped me break through any roadblocks or achieve any specific goals.  The groups lasted for a few months and then eventually faded away.
In a moment of weakness this past February, I said yes to another mastermind group.

It wasn’t until I joined this particular mastermind, facilitated by this particular coach – Kathy Burrus – that I was able to finally understand the benefit and necessity of accountability.

What was different this time?
1. We followed a strict format that was adhered to without exception.
2. I was asked to breakdown my BIG goal into what I wanted to achieve in the month of March – no more – no less.
3. I then mapped out the steps involved to reach my goal and chose ONE part to focus on.
4. Finally I had to explain why I wanted to achieve my goal and what it meant to me personally.

What did I discover during this mastermind?
I live my life completely around the joy of connection.  Connecting a person to a person, connecting a person to their dream, connecting a feeling or solution to a problem, connecting daily with God, connecting at an intellectual level, and connecting with nature.  What a huge awareness for me.  So if I am not connecting one way or another in what I am saying or experiencing, I am just not going to do it! Well if that doesn’t simplify what the steps within my goal should look and feel like. – And that discovery arrived during week 3 of the 5 week mastermind.  A BIG game changer!
After week one and two of the five-week mastermind, I waited until the last minute to complete my accountability work for the following week. By week three…..I had it done within a day of our mastermind session and by week four I couldn’t wait for our final session because I was experiencing SO MUCH success.  I plan on signing up for another month so that I can tackle a new focus – break it down into doable steps – and see it all the way through to completion!
Have you been part of a mastermind that has brought you huge success.  If so, I would love to hear more about it.

Many Blessings, Jenn

P.s. Jenn passed away in June of 2017.  But much of what she chose as goals for 2016 were completed because of her desire to leave a legacy for others.

Story to Share 2:The Story Began…

In last week’s blog post (posted above), I started to tell you the story about a woman, a champion, in my life by the name of Jenn.  We talked about our value in that post- yours and mine. The three questions Jenn asked me on our very first meeting were…

Do you know your value?

Do you offer value to those in your world?

Are you getting paid what you are worth?

(If you want to know what we said about that, check the link above to that blog post.)

But I also said that when I hemmed and hawed with my answers to those questions, the next thing she said to me was,

When you are done making excuses, you can get down to your business.”

Yep! That was the bottom line!  I was making excuses about why I wasn’t being successful or seeing the kind of difference I wanted to see.

Are you doing that- making excuses instead of doing the things you really want to do?

Isn’t that true of most of us though?  We don’t know our value because we don’t realize who we are.   I thought I did.  I had spent a great deal of time and money going to workshops, reading and researching personalities and strengths seeking to understand, and to help others understand who they were made to be.

Live Out Your Value in 2017

I’m talking a lot about VALUE these days.  Mostly that is because a woman in my life dared to ask me these questions.

Do you know your value?

Do you offer value to the people in your world?

Listen in as I share with you some of my insights this summer as I processed the answers to these questions.  I invite you to answer these questions for yourself.

S.N.A.P to Finish

The Fall season is not officially here, but with the start of school, and football games and the cooler temps we’ve been having (at least in Ohio), it feels like fall all over.

But that also reminds me that we are nearing the end of 2017.  Can you believe this year is on the wind down? Doesn’t it seem like we were just setting our goals for the new year?

If you are a goal setter, you might strategically set goals

  • the month,
  • or the quarter or for 90 days at a time
  • or 100 days at a time.
  • or maybe just a wing and a prayer moving through each day as it comes.

I like to look at 100 days at a time (though the ‘wing and a prayer’ has been known to happen on many occasions. )  I especially look at the last 100 days of the year which, if I counted right, actually starts September 23rd.

Or if you save the last week of the year for time with family and friends, or reflection of the old year and planning the new, then the last 100 days of the year start September 16th.

But here’s the thing.

I can spend a lot of time making goals, creating plans, strategizing about next steps and get to the end of the year and wonder…

Is this where I wanted to end up this year?

Or am I trying to do what I think I should do to be who I think I’m supposed to be?

Have I made the kind of difference that I really value most in my own life?

What questions do you have in your own experience?

Well, that’s why every year about this time Continue reading S.N.A.P to Finish

Are You Waiting For Tomorrow?

This is a ‘new’ season for me.  It’s a time when I am FIERCELY taking on some issues in my life- mostly related to my health.

For the last 12 years, I’ve slept more than I’ve done anything.  There have been so many days spent trying just to get the most important thing done. I’ve talked about getting serious about my weight, and my blood sugar.

For the last 5 years or so, I’ve been choosing one BIG thing to focus on.  One year it was a new coaching program for Green Hope Coaching.  Another year it was following up on a coaching credential and certification.  Of course one- or two years I spent writing and publishing the book, Lovely Traces of Hope.

This year I knew that I had to make ME the focus.   I chose to be intentional about me.  I made an appointment with a Dr. that specialized with endocrine issues.  I committed to a 21 Day Detox.  I cleaned out my fridge and goody shelf and started to create a new menu for the week.

But this morning Continue reading Are You Waiting For Tomorrow?

Believe Your Dream to Real

Have you ever had a dream of doing something significant?

Have you ever made a plan for doing that significant something, but it just lays on the pages of your notebook or in the files on your computer?

Me too! I’ve had a lot of ideas that have never come to fruition.  I’ve had notebooks filled with plans and dreams that are still great ideas, but I haven’t yet followed through on them.

But not this time!

Twenty-Eight Days to Done!

As a coach, I know the value of coaching. So I consider it essential that I utilize coaches for different aspects of my own journey (life, business, finances, etc.)

Sometimes Rennie, my husband becomes my coach. We enjoy (well I enjoy) our times of asking the hard questions to prompt thought. Other times it may be a close friend or a perfect stranger that asks a question, or challenges a thought that moves me to my next best step.

But there is something about having a coach that is not family nor friend, but curious, objective guide to help me find the truth of my problem or challenge.

I’m sure it has to something to do with the fact that they are more detached from and not part of the problem or challenge we are facing.

Maybe it’s because it is harder to be accountable to a family member than to a coach that you are paying to help you ‘get ‘er done’.

The point is, the simple art of coaching can bring about powerful transformation.  That’s what I’m after for my own life!

So I am working with my long-time coaching mentor, Coach Cheryl Thacker and her Successful Coaches Mastermind to get clear on my next steps, largely in my business, but also as a coach.

At our last mastermind session, Coach Cheryl issued a challenge.  I tweaked it a bit to combine two of my goals at the same time.

  1. To develop a coaching technique called Laser coaching.
  2. To use this laser coaching skill with 28 new clients in 28 days.

That’s a win-win!  I get to practice my skill, my client gets clear on their next best step and creates an action plan to get ‘er done!

My typical coaching session is face2face and lasts 45 minutes to an hour. That is ideal for some topics that demand the extra attention. Plus I do enjoy the in-person connections.   However, as my client base has grown, my available time alloted for coaching has not.

Though the laser sessions are shorter in length (15- 30 minutes), they are often much more effective and cutting away the clutter of our thoughts and stories and lasering in on the most significant issues at hand.

In an effort to be available for more clients and still offer tremendous value, I will offer a laser phone session that is

  • 15-30 minutes in length
  • over the phone
  • designed to get to the heart of the problem or challenge the client in facing.

Because I can’t really practice my laser coaching without a client,  I am passing a challenge and an offer on to you!  I’m calling it the 28 DAYS Challenge!

What is the ONE THING you want done in February?

Let’s Do it!

For the next 28 DAYS I am offering
28 Laser Coaching Phone Sessions
Each 28 minutes long
for $28.

That’s a super low price considering what I will be charging for them when the challenge is complete.

I’d love to help you get your ONE THING done!  Will you help me with mine?  Together we can do this.

How Do You Measure a Year?

I love pondering mornings.  I love to ponder. So I don’t demand anything of myself on these mornings;

  • I turn off the alarm,
  • lay in bed till I feel like getting up and if I don’t feel like it, then I just stay put,
  • put on my ‘comfy’ clothes,
  • make sure I eat a healthy breakfast (I want to be able to think clearly.),
  • choose my favorite ‘wordless’ music station on Pandora, otherwise I spend all my pondering time singing along.
  • grab a blanket tablet of paper and a good writing pen,
  • and I ponder.

It’s mornings like these that allow my body to catch up with my mind and heart and spirit.  They are usually running ahead and if I don’t intentionally give myself some time to reflect, I end up getting all tangled up a few days down the line.

This morning when I flipped on Pandora, before I could click on my ‘wordless’ stations, the song Seasons of Love, began to play.  The lyrics start like this:

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure – measure a year in a life?

I’ve been fascinated with this song for a lot of years, but I thought it was especially poignant since my ‘ponderings’ for the morning had been largely focused on what I want to be true of this new year.

Wow!  There are only 525,600 minutes in a year?   Considering that one day holds 1440 minutes, that means we have already spent nearly 20,000 minutes of this new year!  I’m not usually into numbers, but this morning it caught my attention.

How do we measure a year?

The song lyrics have some suggestions: Continue reading How Do You Measure a Year?
